Steve Withnell's comment "I wouldn't be surprised if the Ts and Cs to use this site don't claim the IPR to all content posted" (ignoring the double negative) sent me to the Terms and Conditions link at the bottom of the page. As I read the Ts and Cs, content providers including forum members, retain copyright in their posts.

      Please confirm.

If you have a site of your own you can use an encryption system to prevent copying, I used 'HTML guardian' years ago and it was very good

As far as posts are concerned I always assumed that once you shared your info on a third party site then you agreed to share with the world, subject to your copyright and a link to your original post being declared

There was an EU case a few years ago, sites copying news stories from the source site (BBC etc) onto their own site were allowed to do so providing they made a link to the original news story available

It's "fair use" stuff, which varies from country to country

You can post anything on a website and keep your copyright unless the terms of the website say different. However, someone is going to steal it. Not worth the bother of trying to stop it.

Our T&Cs don't steal anyone's copyright, but they do allow us to reproduce anything put up on the website.

We do try and contact people beforehand when using web content in the mags (which is very rarely done, and usually only to draw attention to an interesting thread).

For example, the next MEW will include a pic from a thread, but I contacted the person who took it asking if I could use it and have a high res version.

You retain full copyright and the right to republish anything you post on this website anywhere else.

                Neil

Thank you for explaining what seems like a fair arrangement.
