        I've come across a few anomalies regarding the Simple Mill Engine cyinder.

        ME 4464 p357.

        The cylindr has two flats machined on it , according to Fig 5 and sketch 1 they are 16mm wide but the text gives them as 15mm.

        Also the width across the cylinder in Fig 5 is given as 29.86mm and in Sketch 1 as 29.5mm.

          Eric sorry if I've confused things but it dosn't realy mater if you make it 15mm or 16mm wide or 29.5mm or 29.86mm, they are one of those features where you have a little lee way as to what size you make it.

            @jasonb

            Won't it make things a bit tight on the slide bars if the centre line of the cylinder and therefore piston rod is not on the same height as the cross head?

            The 29.5mm dimension would give a 17.18mm wide flatcrook

              Yes your quite right Jason it will but :- the drawing and text says to adjust the height of part 18 slide bar pillar (not yet published) to suite centre line of cylinder, the text also covers a simple way on how to determins the height of the cylinder centre line:- watch out for next thrilling instalement smiley

              I treated it this way to allow for a bit of error to creep in, cylinder centre line is something you should measure any way and it can be easily be corrected, but the confusing sizes are my mistake in not getting the text and drawings in line with each other:- sorry guysembarrassed

              Thanks for your interest, and feed back.

                Hey Stew,

                You should get the technical editor to check your drawings for you
