There's a distinct possibility the items have genuinely been delayed by customs. One reason Banggod items are cheap is because import duty might be evaded by playing fast and loose with the purchase price and item description. (Daughter gets stuff described as a 'Gift' ) . Mostly, no-one checks low-value purchases, but a proportion are, which can lead to delays and/or Postie demanding tax plus admin charges!
A long delay or non-delivery might be due to an innocent item being part of a larger package containing more serious contraband or forbidden goods. The whole lot might be in an evidence locker. Being sent by sea is another reason for long delays.
In my experience incompetence and mistakes are more likely than dishonesty. The worst delay I've ever experienced was from a UK book seller; item turned up 3 years after I'd given up complaining! However, whatever the reason Alan's goods are delayed, 3 months is about as long as I'd wait. I'd complain now.
Buying cheap from Banggood and similar it's sensible to accept it's going to be a bit risky. In addition to tax advantages and subsidised postage, prices are low because the route bypasses consumer protection. He who sups with the devil should use a long spoon. I don't use Banggood unless I'm prepared to write-off the purchase if it goes sour. It's not just a China problem – importing privately from anywhere, like buying second-hand, can lead to complications that are your problem. Buying from a UK vendor is less hassle because they take most of the responsibility.
