Anyone out there changed the head bearings on a FB-2 or one of the clones. I have Warco VHM with dodgy bearings – about 0.1 mm movement on MT2 shaft when I put manual pressure moving quill from side to side

The top bearing is a Japanese 16009 single row deep groove 75mm diameter but I suspect the culprit is much smaller and deep inside the innards which I have yet to explore.

Any advice apart from passing it on via eBay would be appreciated.

Bearing Update

Holiday interrupted progress on bearing problem but 2 new skf deep groove ball races fitted as well as needle bearing meant for motor bike. No perceptible play felt and deflection of MT2 shaft now 0.04mm which is good enough for me and must include some column movement as well as play.

Not sure how long this will last but it was cheap at under 30 pounds and not difficult to do. I stress that neither the machine or owner intend to undertake any heavy work in the future.
