I know some of you have been using my index for the Model Engineers' Workshop magazine and no doubt some have become disillusioned with it as it has been so far out of date.

I am pleased to say that it is now fully up to date and having streamlined the process hope in the future to update it on an issue by issue basis.

A major feature that I have now added is to include a Google Site Search facility that enables the index to be searched for given words or phrases. Typically, a search for “off hand” came up with 7 pages containing the phrase.

A search for Jeffree came up with 12 pages so will be useful if looking for articles by a given author.

The index can be found at **LINK**

Can I ask an obvious question (again).

How do I use this index, by that I mean, are these articles available online anywhere?

Sorry Chris, perhaps I should have said Model Engineers' Workshop Magazine Index rather than just Model Engineers' Workshop Index, it is just an index for the magazine.

Let us take an example, say you are interested in Lathe Chucks. Click on that on the first page and you will be sent to a page which attempts to list all those articles relating to that, This being subdivided into sections such a 2Jaw, 3Jaw, 4Jaw, soft jaw, etc.

On the left it quotes the issue and page numbers for the copy of the magazine in which the chosen article can be found

However, if you are looking for something more specific than those listed on page one, then use the Google search box, top right. Say you are interested in Rust, put this in the google box it will give you three references to this in the index. Remember, this is where the word can be found in the index and not in the articles themselves.

You ask if the articles can be found on the Web. Unfortunatelly, with there being so many authors it is impossible to know which can be found should any of them have a website.

If though the article is mine then you can go to my website where you can check the sites index to see if it is available. The majority of my articles are on my website with the following exceptions.

Many of the earlier ones are not there as I no longer have the photographs.

The series I have produced are not there as such but constructional parts within them are listed as as individual items.

In some cases the article has been published in book form. In this case my website only has a single page introduction to it, pointing one to the book in which it can be found. The publisher would not like it if I gave full descriptions of items in the book. To be honest, neither would I.

There is of course one other, and important, option. This is to take up a digital issue subscription for the magazine then you can use my index to find the issue and page which can then be used to find the article in the digital copies.
