I’ve put my version of an index spreadsheet on Google docs.

It includes the paragraph headings of an item as well as the basic detail. So, not only do you get …

SHAVINGS, DUST AND GENERAL SAFETY, SPACE CONSIDERATIONS, MITRE SAWING WORK, ROUTER WORK, WORKTOP JIG, TURNING …

Which helps to give a feel of what the item is about and it’s depth.

It’s not foolproof though. Some articles have para headings such as … HANDWHEEL, HANDWHEEL SHAFT, HANDWHEEL HANDLE, HANDWHEEL FITTING, HANDWHEEL TIPS etc etc while others just say WHY I DID IT, IN CONCLUSION.

Yeah it’s good. I don’t mind about there being no author column particularly – it would be pretty rare for me to search it that way, and I daresay that if one did, it would pick the names out of the content descriptions anyway, wouldn’t it? Also, if you download it, it wouldn’t be too difficult to add a separate column for this anyway.

It takes quite a bit of effort to do this sort of thing – well done!

Yes, the index is just for my benefit really so author wasn’t important but I have added the detail where known. One knock-on of this is that I haven’t added any authorship of scribe a line letters.

Thanks for the index – i was going to make my own index of the articles I am interested in but of course never got round to it. Now I don’t have to – Yippee! It’s also far better than anything I would have managed so a big thank you I am sure from a lot of very happy people.

A useful index.

Perhaps you could add issue numbers with month dates?

Feel free to copy the dates included in the last index in MEW if you don’t want to type the lot in.

Authorname does seem to appear in places – hit ctrl+F to get a search window.
