I got a copy of David Fenner’s “The Mini-Lathe” in the mail from MEW today.  This being in print for almost two years I already have a copy, which seems like a slap in the face given that we overseas subscribers (U.S. here) have always been excluded from subscription and contest prizes.

A newly released title would have been more appropriate.

Sell it on ebay if you dont want it, then use the proceeds to take your family on holiday.

          Welcome to  ME-uk btw.

            Hi
What are you complaining about? A free gift?
I subscribe to MEW, and have done for some years.
Here in UK we don’t get the subscription gifts, they are for new subscribers only.
I would like to get a freebie, even if it was two years old.

              Hi Mike
The offer specifically states that book.
That is why you received it.
It took me two years to get subscriptions to give US subscribers a gift.

However, as you obviously have some of the workshop practice books, can you suggest a different one that would appeal to US readers?
I suggested the Minilathe book as being suitable but am not sure what else the Americans would like.
              regards David

                Thank you for your support.
You can get a gift by taking out a new subscription instead of renewing but the price will probably be a bit higher.
                regards David

Just give the book to some needy soul who would appreciate it.

You never know, sometime in the future, they might just do the same for you.

It happens to me all the time, that is why on a new project, most times I don’t need to buy raw materials, I already have it in stock, or something close to it, kindly donated by a grateful friend.

Giving, with no strings attached, is always better than selling.

With selling, you have a few bucks for a day or so, giving gives goodwill for life.

Ok, I apologize for being a complainer.

It’s probably too pricey for me to ship it to the UK, but if anyone in the US wants it…it’s yours.

Can’elp thinking that if the book was good enough for you to buy it, it’s a decent freeby, rather than shifting a title no-one wants.

                        HI Mike,

I have to state that you are lucky – we Australians get nothing with our subscriptions.
Donate it to your club library (assuming you belong to a club) – that way many people can benifit.

                        Pete
