Just had a look down the list of thread titles in 'Latests Posts'.

(Just for fun and no criticism or offence intended to posters)

Milling Advice (can advice be milled?)

U Tube (that's new one on me)

Optical Elevator (not optical at all)

Information (that will really show up well in searches)

Play in new arbour for mill (more likely play in spindle?)

Measuring instrument storage (same as measuring anything else)

The above are just todays crop.

I wonder what an advice mill would look like and whether it could turn a profit!

            In order:

New management-ese for what a committee of consultants do.

A social-media site dedicated to making manometers.

            Periscope.

What the committee in No.1 emits. NB: I said nowt about veracity and value.

I keep my mill in the workshop not garden shelter.

            As Ian has already stated!

            @@@@@

And from what's come to a Forum near you now:

Quick Change Gear Box: An actor's costume-locker.

Struggling to…. hard enough. I suggest reading the health-advice posters more carefully.

The one that caught me recently was

Trying to identify a bird-feeder thread.

                .

Until I suddenly realised what Ed had in mind …

I was ready to direct him to a recent thread by Graham Meek.

These two are ok, I think.

”Milling” here is a gerund, a verbal noun.

”Measuring” is a gerundive, adjectival to “instrument”.

A hyphen would eliminate any potential confusion. Although I'm not sure why anyone would want to measure instrument-storage….

If it wasn’t for the ambiguity of language lawyers would have no function and certainly would not be able to bill at the rates they do.

                              🥴
