Hi,

Why does a clock go tick tock….. rather than tick tick ….. or tock tock…..?

I see that no-one answered this … so here goes:

Escapements are generally asymmetric in their action, so it is pretty much inevitable that they will produce two different sounds.

Ve haf vays of making you tock.

Originally they all went tick tick. When the Germans started making them they found this totally unacceptable so the necessary modifications were made.
