Tracy Tools strikes again. I ordered a single 3/16 x 40 die at around 4.30 on Monday evening and it arrived by post at 10.15 Tuesday morning. Job threaded by 11.00 same day amazing.

Yes, Courier companies are really good these days. Which one was it?

              Amazing indeed.

And I still hear folk hankering after the "good old days" when you had to thumb through your supplier's catalogue, post off your order to the supplier with a cheque or postal order and then sit back and wait for a couple of weeks for your item to arrive.

The fact is that people praise suppliers for next day delivery. Quite by chance I ordered a tap from Tracy on sunday night & it arrived by post Tuesday morning & like David I did the job ASAP.

However, when my wife goes into a shop she expects to get served reasonably quickly. She does not expect to wait 3-4 days. One would expect the items to be parcelled up & given to the courier at the end of the days agreed cycle. So what is the difference? Is it that suppliers are getting so lax that we now applaud service that was once considered "normal"?

The difference is that the internet allows us to sit at home & order, rather than queue & the delivery system in this country is so good that goods arrive very quickly.

Surely it is that delivery system & the couriers that perform that should be applauded. Tracy tools are doing just what my wife would expect when she walks into any shop.. Exactly what her mother would have expected 70 years ago.

                To push my point home:-

Will you be praising the local veg shop for serving you your potatoes as soon as you walk into the shop?

I would like to reactivate this thread to pay tribute to both Tracy Tools and Royal Mail for outstanding service. I placed an Internet order late on Thursday evening. Kev phoned me with a query and recommendation on Friday morning and my order arrived today( Saturday). Now bear in mind that half the country’s transport system was down due to Storm Eunice and this is remarkable service. Credit where it is due, I would like to thank and congratulate all concerned at both Tracy Tools and Royal Mail. Well done.

I have no link to either Tracy Tools nor Royal Mail other than as a very satisfied customer.

The diamond tool holders that were ordered from Australia ( I mentioned this in another thread) at the beginning of november arrived in the UK- Coventry- at the beginning of january. It finally cleared customs & was collected by the Royal mail.soon after- Mid Jan I understand. They lost the parcel surprise

Emails to Eccentric Tools followed & they then gave Royal mail 15 days to sort it. Parcel finally arrived 11 February.

The Royal Mail is renowned in our village for its poor performance. The postie himself is Ok, but the backup is not his fault.

My postie is great, The dogs love him as he always gives them a treat.

Why was your order sent from Australia? when I ordered mine I think it's his sister who takes orders in the UK, she posted it from here in the UK.

And yet I have been buying stuff almost every week from the UK and having it sent to me in Australia by Royal Mail for years with never a mishap. It is by far my preferred shipping method. And the cheapest. Ebay Global Shipping has gone through the roof in the past 3 months as part of the great logistics crisis.

Speaking of which, you have to realise that you ordered from Eccentric right at the annual Christmas parcel rush time, in the middle of a pandemic that has wreaked havoc on global logistics, largely due to the lack of passenger planes that usually carry much of the the air mail/freight in their holds . These problems are both well known so nothing to complain about if you choose to order anything from overseas in late November up to Dec 25 or so.

I am sure if you ordered now, you would receive it in the usual 7 to 14 days for UK-Oz freight. I got one parcel last week from the UK in five days. A new record.

Notwithstanding the erratic postal service, the bottom line is that Tracy Tools offers an outstanding service. I have really missed rootling around their stall at exhibitions since covid forced cancellations.

We should applaud all our suppliers, (such as Tracy, Arc Euro etc ) who deal with the order on the same day and put into the delivery system. Despite the shortcomings, Royal Mail often, literally, deliver the goods.

Tracy tools are a great company, first class products and postal service.

You get what you pay for.

I bought a 6mm hss tap for £12, not cheap but first class quality.

My invoice total was £18, so £6 for vat and postage?

It could have been posted R.M. first class for less than £2 but there is no guarantee of next day delivery.

Like I say you get what you pay for, I have no complaints I want it quick so extra cost suits me.

Am I a lucky boy or what? Never seem to have had problems with suppliers or their delivery people. I have seen a few moans on the forum about some of the couriers but they have all been OK here. Some suppliers seem to be quicker than others but I have no way of knowing if any slight delay of a day or two is down to a courier or Royal mail who are just as good as the couriers.

I have usually got several projects on the go so can switch from one to other whilst awaiting a delivery so makes little difference.
