Brilliant! Still remember his how a fax machine works episode, all explained in a light hearted but very informative way.

I will always remember his "secret life" episode on the car engine, poking the oil filter of a running 4 cyl engine with a chisel. I remember yelling "noooooo!" in front of the tv before he got a 10W30 bath! He is truly a mechanical genius, and great fun.

Genius ? To my mind any body who pokes a chisel through an oil filter of a running engine is a long way from being a genius, in fact the term Idiot comes more readily to mind. Fun is another thing ! Noel.

His latest videos are about components and are both interesting and useful……..I watched the one on LED's today while having lunch and found it very informative….I'm hoping to use leds in my next clock, so very handy……yesterday watched the one on 'chain' and learned a lot of stuff I did'nt know before,…very interesting watching him cut out sprockets using his CNC plasma cutter.

Yes!…..I have a 'smart' TV now and it's the best thing!…..some brilliant stuff online….TV progs are ok but you can't beat the real thing!……YouTube such as all the engineering stuff and 'jerryrigeverything' plus Mark Felton's stuff and deepsea dving etc…'Finding Katsuhiro's tiger'…highly recommended! Lock-picking videos from the 'lockpicking lawyer' are surprisingly seductive to watch….

….I watched Tim Hunkin replacing the lens unit of his pocket camera……brilliant!

Great! I must seek them out.

I loved his "Secret Life" series, and used to show them to my GCSE Science classes when they fitted the topic we were studying.

I took my then-teenage daughter to his "Under the Pier Arcade" on Southwold Pier some years ago and she had a whale of a time, as did I (and fish and chips in the café ). [blasted smiley crept in.] Well worth a visit when it's open again.

Try this link to locate TIms stuff on YouTube. The first 'Components' episodes started online early in 2021. There are also one or two 'one-off' projects he was involved in. The man is a genius, with a knack of imparting useful and fascinating information.

I remember being enthralled by his stuff when I was younger, so a couple of years ago I sent him a message thanking him for making a series which still sticks with me now. He was gracious enough to reply, and as you can imagine was polite, erudite and self-effacing. Lovely chap.
