I recon two oxen is about as powerful as our old Fergie so you could just pull and old Ransomes gang mower, or just let them eat it down.

I wonder how far unguarded pieces of broken mower blade can travel, I would want to be a long distance from that thing.surprise

Many years ago, when I first started work, I sold a hover mower to Charlie Watts. Some time later, his gardener came to us refusing to use the machine. It turned out that the blade had broken in half at the blade bolt during use! The bolt was still in place! Neither half of the blade was ever found!

Now that's a rock'n'roll story not many people can tell!

Don't know the answer to that one, but I can tell you something about the force of that sort of thing. When I was about 16 I was mowing the back lot at my Grandfather and Father's garage using a rotary mower with a 3.5 HP Briggs and Stratton engine. I was 6 foot tall and about 225 lb at the time, a strapping lad and no flyweight. The blade did not break but the cast iron hub between blade and engine shaft did break. A piece of this hub about half a pound in weight flew out from under the machine and hit the ankle of my work boot. The force was enough to knock both legs out from under me and next thing I knew I was looking up and seeing grass and the mower-still running!. No real injury other than a black and blue sore ankle, but it was an eye opener about the potential danger of mowers. JD

Having grass with a rolling stone that's got to be rock & roll
