Some folks use Lego figures to include in pictures to show the scale of an item. I chose a Welder. He looked a bit under equipped though so I just made him a Spanner! Lego do make a spanner for their "mechanics" but it's not as nice as the stainless steel one I just made. Scale size I reckon it must be about three inch Whitworth! smiley

              Yeah right!

Spanners I could hardly pick up, Kango hammers I definitely couldn't, Ahhh, track laying for KWVR and Welsh Highland, when I was young and fit… "How tight should I make this fishplate screw?" " 'Till you can't tighten it any more!"

I lived in west London many years ago and was a kid when they refurbished Hammersmith Bridge. The spanners they used must have been around 8 inches AF!

                  Nice job!

Not wanting to steal your thunder. This was an apprentice piece I made in 1980, during my bench fitting training. Not on the same scale as yours. Hacksaw and file only…

The phrase that was used on me in a similar situation was "F' tight and half a turn". . . . . . .I'm not sure the F stood for finger.

This should go with the hammer.  There is actually two pair of "Footprints", the workshop gremlins borrowed the first pair, so I made another, then they brought back again—you can't win.

                              Machined or forged?

Not forged, it's a real one I machined.

I might print one of these for fun… can anyone guess where a 3-in-lb torque wrench might be used?

… anywhere that we would normally use a torque screwdriver, but need to employ the little-fellow with small hands to reach the fasteners angel

It's the one they printed on the space station. An STL viewer reveals an internal spring and ratchet mechanism.

I wonder how well it works (can't print it as the Dremel went home today >sob&lt.

The late Peter "Bushy" Robinson won the Duke of Edinborough Trophy, some years ago, with a display case of miniature wood working tools. The ratchet brace was about 30mm overall length, and the chuck, and its ratchet mechanism worked, to hold the miniature auger bits that were part of the rest of the exhibit.

He also made a small plane (barely 25mm long) with a curved foot. The sole plate was dovetailed into the side plates! If it needs saying, it was a functioning tool
