Can't get your link to work. Stephen Fry showed one of these working in an episode of QI. All apparently 3D printed in one go. I dread to think how long it took!

Not 3d printed, but my lad (then 13?) and I made one of these which rather marvelously walks across the dining room table when you blow on it from the side.

There are videos around which show the huge creatures looking much the same as the ones in the link walking across the low country beaches (strand = beach more or less).

Of course, marvelous as it is (and still on lad's shelf – now 15) it's one of those things that gets 3 runs out to amuse the family and is then packed away.

                    This **LINK** should work!

                      Thanks Neil!

I was contemplating making it out of aluminium on the lathe/mill enlightened

I ordered one of these for my daughter as a Christmas present. She is hoping to study Japanese at university so it was nice that it came with very little English aside from a message from Theo Jansen.

It hasn't been made yet, but the presentation is beautiful, with a nice box and a well-produced wrap. It is one of a serie of gadgets for home construction that also includes a valve radio, basic microcomputer, reflecting telescope, 35mm twin-lens reflex, paper tape bird song machine and all sorts of wonderful devices.

                        Neil
