this is the item number :221766558666

i saw this on eBay and at £50 it seemed a steal if it was any good

Postage within the uk was included it weighs 12kg so that must be costly by Royal Mail…anyway it arrived today and it's brill…there's lots of uses for the pump and ram and also using it for its intended use of punching holes in 3mm thick steel I'm sure I will use it lotsimage.jpeg

          Ian,

Quick question for you. Looking at the advert it says that 1/2" die and punch set gives actual hole size of .885", 3/4" gives hole of 1.115" up to 2" giving hole of 2.416".

Is this correct. Seams a bit odd to me.

Those sizes indicate that the punches are for use in the electrical trade, for creating hole for conduit fittings which are based upon pipe sizes.

Yes the sizes are marked strangley but if you just select the size that you want rather than the marked size

I'm sure they are designed for electrical panel work

dies are easy enough to make if theres not the size you want

I bought from a local supplier a 6 ft length of hose with fittings last week for my floor press and that was £70

this machine complete for £40 seems crazy ( plus post)

Interesting but although seller is registered as a 'Business Seller' they give no company/contact address plus the item location is given as 'Oldham, Greater Manchester, UK' however the seller is actually registered in the 'United States'.

If there is a problem it may make returns or tracking someone down somewhat difficult.

                  and fairly dreadfull feedback

but it did arrive very quickly 3 days

theres a spare seal kit with it and i've done 30 holes testing it on various materials and it works great

From looking at one or two You Tube videos it seems clear that a pilot hole is required as with the Q-Max style of punch. From this point of view, the main advantage seems to be more and easier punching power. Have you actually tried 3mm steel?

Do tell us some of the other uses you have in mind.

It is exactly like a q-max cutter

the ram had a large body and large thread that can be repurposed as a bearing puller or anywhere else you may need 10tons of force albeit only over 20mm stroke

I have tried it on 2.5mm stainless 5 mm alloy so far 1mm steel it hardly stops at even at the large size 60mm or so

Only one feedback on the punch though and that wasn't coherant

                        "Warning seller no god "

Well of course he isn't, there is only one God, there was two before Myford's finished wink

Anyway ordered one at £50 you can't go wrong and can always use it as a power pack on the puller kit.

                          Ian

Sounds OK then which is really what matters with these things. Using it as a puller could prove useful for bearings and with a suitable mandrel one could also use it to seat bearings etc. I expect.

                          Good luck
