Any RC hobbyist on here . I used to dabble when the kids were growing up . Then I started building what is known as a rock crawler type monster truck . It’s been on the back burner for years now . So the other night my wife mentioned what was I planning for the two weeks I’m off at Xmas. Some serious shed time for a start 😁. Then I thought now I have a lathe and a mill I might carry on with the rock crawler build making my own parts as I go . I’m just curious if anyone’s built something similar on here . See…. at the end of the day I’m still a big kid at heart….right? 😁🤡

      Merry Xmas 🌲🌲🌲

Several boats and a few aeroplanes, some of which have flown!

I have a 1:32 Panther tank waiting for a speed controller and a1/6 Vickers light tank in the process of construction.

Used to race on road nitro cars buy time constraints and life ended up getting in the way so had to stop but still love to play around with them here and there , i sometimes go out to the model farm and watch the fly boys play with thier planes that is if i can drag myself away from the trains and baja buggies and boats and tether cars !

Would love to see some pics of your crawler !

            Neil ,

I still marvel at the tiger tank in that book der tiger !

I’ll see if I can find some photos of the crawler. I’ve built it around a pair of tamiya clodbuster axles . I made the chassis and suspension links ,its a bit rough around the edges . This one was only going to be a mock up to see if it would work .

And a smart one too ! If he is sitting in it he won' have to swim after it if it stops working just paddle it back to shore !

                  Sean ,

It doesn't matter if its not a showstopper , i always like to see what others have made even if it is only a concept and we don't get a lot of rc stuff on here which is unfortunate .

Come to think if it i haven't seen windy and his flashsteamer on here for a while .

I have never built a RC model but have made loads of parts for someone who does. Lots of nice fancy shapes in aluminium, some with bearing housings for press fit. One day I hope the builder will actually finish the thing…..

I used to play about with 10th electric and 1/8 IC off-road and then dabbled with helicopters. Had a tamiya "Roufgh Rider" when they first came out that started the whole off road scene.Made of modified quite a few bits on my Unimat 3 that I had at the time. Still have a littel play with the small helicopters and cheap drones which are so much easier to control now with the advancements in electronics

Started off with control line when I was about 15, then old timers with very basic rc when I started to work at 16, I then included helis about 10 years ago, also love model gliding in electric, thermal and slope disciplines.

Being a yachtsman I have a 1 metre yacht but do not enjoy sailing it so much as the local club members are so competitive they will not help with any problems. Totally different from the model flying club that I am in though. Slightest problem & there are 4 heads in there with ideas. They do not all know the answer but all willing to suggest something. A really great crowd. Trouble is, with sailing for most of the summer,(been round Britain twice single handed since I retired @ 65) I get out of practice & crash too many planes.

Lathe & mill work has to wait for cold winter days when I can do none of the above.

My dad used to own a yacht, when he couldn't take care of it he gave it to me, but somehow I enjoyed it only together with my dad, not so exciting thing without himindecision. I still own it but don't sail.
