      Hi All,

This lot was at the bottom of a box of tools just bought at auction, not sure of the engine number, No:9 comes to mind?

      castings 1.jpg

These seem to be quite early items as their address was still in Guernsey and Stuart do not seem to to offer the governor kit any longer? Not sure how complete the set is?

      castings 8.jpg

      castings 6.jpg

All help gratefully received as usual

      Cheers, Martin

They seem to offer a set of spare parts for the governer here https://www.stuartmodels.com/product/stuart-governor/

I am sure a phone call or email will give you the info you need

Mike, What a beautiful model, I admire you skill! Thanks for the info.

Does it look like a complete set or is there something obvious missing?

              Cheers, Martin

That looks like the earlier type of governor set that they no longer do and was often fitted to a No9 and that part number is listed with it in the catalogues of that time. Picture of that type of governor here

The No9 and No4 are currently listed with 5" flywheels and think that is what tehy always had

                  Thanks Jason,

You are correct as usual, just re-measured the flywheel and it is indeed 5" NOT 6"!

                  Anything obviously missing? Cheers, Martin

Having built one, as previously said it is a #9 but the front and rear cylinder covers appear to be missing from your photo. (available from Stuarts)

                      Hi John,

Well spotted! Anything else come to mind?

                      cheers, Martin

Looks like you may also be missing one of the glands, probably the one for the piston rod. Also can't see a crankshaft or material to fabricate it from

The cylinder covers don't actually need castings they can be cut from round stock which will work out a lot cheaper

Current parts list can be downloaded from Stuarts

Jason, I believe the item just to the left of the crosshead casting is the piston rod gland. Yes, the crank shaft is also missing (missed that ). The one in mine was a malleable iron casting. ( My castings were "original" Stuart from the '70s and were second or third hand ) I couldn't get a good finish on it so I fabricated one (loctite and pinned).

On a second thought I think that is the valve rod gland, the one for the piston rod would be bigger. The valve rod one is 1 3/32" across the ears and the piston rod one is 1 1/4" across the ears. Also missing is all the fixings (nuts, bolts, studs etc, )

                              John

I presume drawings are also missing.

Also spring belt to drive the governor

Here are copies of the ST parts and fasteners list, at least those valid in 1975.
