Many years ago (at least 20?), RS used to issue paper "datasheets" on their products. One such product was a transformer kit. This had a pre-wound 240 volt primary winding and space for a secondary of your own choice. They no longer offer this product (EU regulations?). Does anyone have a copy of the original datasheet? I have no idea of the Datasheet Number but the RS Stock No. was182-9925. Can anyone help or do they have access to the old red/brown binders of the datasheets?
This is an unhelpful reply but I remember the data sheet library very well, my job evolved into a hands off role and the satisfaction of bench repair work was left behind, happy days though.
I've failed too! Got an RS transformer in it's box, except the box is for a 200VA 208-579 and it contains a 100VA 207-734. No datasheet and the transformer markings don't help.
Presumably you want to know how many turns are on the primary to calculate the number needed to give a secondary voltage. Another way, if you have a transformer, is to wind 40 turns as a temporary secondary and measure the voltage, V. Then volts per turn = V/40.
I'm sure a Leave expert will soon be along to explain why transformer kits still aren't available even though we've left the EU…
Thanks John, I knew that someone "out there" would have a copy of the sheet available! All I have to do now is get some laminations of the right size (available from ASCO – https://ascocomponents.co.uk/ ) and off I go!
Dunno if it helps, but I've got three of these kits albeit with a different part number here, RS 805-114. I've no idea if I've still got the data sheet, but if they are any use to you they're yours for the cost of postage.
PM me if it's of interest to you.
Oh and I'm in North Gloucestershire nearly Monmouth btw.
