Help Needed Wiring Start Stop Switches

I wasn't happy with how the controls for my new inverter where wired up so Ive changed the circuit and got it all working. I now have fwd, rev and estop as well as the pot for speed. However I don't like having to use the estop and then having to reset it each time I start the lathe. So I was hoping one of you guys can help me wire start/stop buttons into the circuit below. I know I could just wire a latching button in at terminal 1 but I would like to use the original buttons. These are non latching momentary push type with one of each NO/NC connections. I'm hopeless at electronic s so go easy.

According to the circuit the stop switch is normally closed (short circuit from 1 to 3) which you have to break to stop. So look at your stop button find a pair of contacts that are normally short circuit but open when the button is depressed, wire one to 1 the other to 3.

Thanks for that, I was hoping to use 2 buttons (green start, red stop) and retain the estop.

Hi Hollowpoint,
Connect your normal stop button (Which should be a normally closed contact.) in SERIES with the E-stop button. If you have any safety interlock switches also connect them in series with the E-stop and stop button.

Hi Hollowpoint,

It depends not just on how its wired, but also on how it's programmed – there are many ways of doing it.

I have speed, e-stop, start and stop all wired to a control box on the lathe. There's a switch on the speed control so when its at 'zero' it goes into jog mode. if find this really useful. I also have an analogue meter reading instantaneous power so I can see if I'm pushing 'the envelope'.

Wiring diagram below, the article includes programming advice that should give a pointer even if you have a different inverter.
