New to model making was thinking about the 31/2 inch Tich but having trouble finding the book Model locomotive building, there was one on here but I do not have enough posts to speak to the person who has one, I bid on one on eBay but was out bid some of the others are a bit pricey, so if anybody could help it would be appreciated.

      thanks Stewart

Most (but not quite all) of the magazine articles have been scanned in and are available here:- TichSm.pdf (john-tom.com)

I'd build a Juliette rather than a Tich. Just that bit bigger, easier to hold the bits and a bigger grate makes it easier to keep the fire burning. Cost of bits won't be much more.

I agree with Neil, Abe Books are pretty good.

The Tich book is well worth owning, even if you don't build a Tich. Just noticed that my copy is on the table behind me- I rest my case!

                          John.

Yes, of course … that was implied by the word ‘also’

                                J Hancock has ‘priority’ though.

Bill, you just gave away my secret for winning 99% of the auctions I enter because you either really want the item or you don't, but I nearly came unstuck once for a Myford S7 cross-slide. Someone just pipped me in the dying seconds of the auction and, in a panic to enter a higher bid, I inadvertently entered £1222 instead of £222. I got the item for £231 which was forty quid more than I really wanted to pay but I was just relieved that the other bidder hadn't also entered a ridiculously high price!

I now wait until the last five seconds before bidding if the price is still below what I want to pay.

… and I mourn the passing of JBidWatcher sad

(There's a local auction sites that does things a bit differently: If there's a last minute bid they extend the auction time a bit).
