Depending on your age/eyesight the large-print desk edition is well worth considering.

(Makes a great device for flattening documents on a copier too !)

When I bought my 28th Ed. (Desktop) it came with a reprint of the of the 1914 First Ed (which I presume is what you have). It's interesting to browse.

I've got a 1918 one, the real thing, not a reprint, and also a much later one from the 1980's which is about three times as thick. The later one was from a library selling off books, it was a couple of years old and three books for $10 if I remember correctly.

I still have my 18th Ed from the 60's …. complete with large coffee stain.

The company I worked for had some top-brass visiting and we all had to (a) be at our desks and (b) completely clear the desk except for the piece of paper we were working on. To create the "right impression" (huh?).

So I did this, except that I had a cup of coffee as well. I opened the right filing drawer to check something. It wasn't there so I opened the left filing drawer as well.

And the desk tipped over spilling the coffee all over my 18th Ed.

I'll probably sell my 30th ed once the new one arrives.

Only leaving the house for work is harder than I thought. The garden needs sorting, but its not that important that a trip to the DIY stores could be considered as essential!

As the weeks roll on, I'll be glad of the extra reading material!

I have two Editions – can't recall the exact versions – but a fairly early one and a more recent one (60-70s)

I generally refer to the latest version but I've found things in the earlier one that are not in the later one (or on the Web) so they both do get used – albeit not that often. But neither cost very much and don't take up too much shelf space – so will be staying.

I'd be grateful if anyone who does buy the latest edition could let us all know whether its 2996 pages are section-sewn or merely "perfect-bound".
