        I have found a source of 20mm x 0.5mm half-hard stainless strip

In an ideal world I could do with 19mm x 0.6mm although the width isn't critical.

Can anyone suggest a source – I can only find carbon steel in 0.6mm and it's long coils.

        To make four of these:

Though not for identical dimensions, when needing similar strips of s/s I've purchased a set of feeler gauges.
Cheap enough and seem pretty tough.

Can you cut strips from a piece of .6 sheet? Those new thin cutting discs about 1mm thick for a 4" angle grinder work a treat for that kind of thing.

Maybe find someone who makes bandsaw blades for butchers, and blag a short length; they are likely to be stainless strip.

There is a local supplier Nefco within walking distance. They will cut a strip of the correct width from a sheet. It comes in polished and brushed Finnish.

Thanks folks, I'd like polished if possible. I'm rapidly thinking the best idea might be to pop in The Range with a digital caliper and take a look in the kitchen supplies section

What about s/steel banding used by packaging companies for pallets

I've not heard of SS being specified as Half-Hard but from the description I presume you are looking for springiness as a characteristic feature.

Nowhere near the size you mention but I have a more than ample supply of 'flat' SS spring wire. It is 2.5mm wide and 0.7mm thick with rounded edges, I have lost the Certificate of Conformity that gave its metalurgical content but you are welcome to have some if you could use it, it might mean changing your design but several strips could be fixed side by side etc.
