Is there any sort of annealing process to soften stainless steel which has work hardened during the machining process.
Annealing?
When I was first starting out I was sold some 'silver steel' at a boot sale.
All my attempts at hardening it made it soft… it was stainless steel.

I just googled it, it seems complicated, all depending on what type of stainless steel it is. **LINK**

Sounds like give it a try, but quench it quickly.
Thanks for the links Adrian
