      Hi all,

      what is the recommendation for gland packing, ptfe or graphite cord?

          Depending on the service I would suggest graphite tape.

            For model work I prefer the braided and lubricated yarn, you can unravel it to pack small glands and the 3mm dia size can be used as is for piston packing. Some of the drier graphite seals don't seem to work as well in models particularly if run on air. Something like this from the same source above but most of the ME suppliers will sell short lengths which should last you ages

            Post from a while ago about the drier stuff not being as good

              Thanks guys. Jason good idea on being able to unravel the strands. I will get some on order.
