Don't throw away your old windscreen wipers without stripping the rubber off the 3/16"x1/32" stainless strips inside next time !

The cv boots on my car are secured with stainless steel ties, not sure of the size but must be around 3/16" and they are thin. So maybe they can be obtained from car spares factor. colin

Many coffee machine carafes have a thin stainless steel band about 0.4 mm thick and about 5 mm wide securing the plastic handle assy to the glass. Where I live the water is very hard and so coffee machines last about a year. I always save these bands from the carafe and a few other parts from scrap ones. Some nice silicone rubber hose and clamps, a good quality electrical on/off switch, some high temp wire etc. are inside the base (always unplug the device before taking it apart, naturally, to prevent shock risk.)
