This item cropped up in a club auction. Nobody has a definite answer as to its use, but it has been suggested as being a device to hold a motorcycle chain together for fitting.

Its well made and clearly not home brewed. The adjustment wheel has left and right hand threads and is clearly not man enough to apply pressure at the far end.

Missing the "pins", but it is an Adjustable Pin Spanner

These people sell them, so might be able to source the pins? Pin spanner

Interesting website. The spanner is rather expensive at about £90. I can understand why I have never seen one.

Here's one I made earlier. It works very well and I have never seen another.

However in the pic of the OP and the link to the pins there are two good improvements I need to make. The thumbwheel will stop the jaws closing on your hand when a pin slips out and it looks as if the pins are held in with an O ring, meaning they are easy to change.

                        I reckon I'll make a set.
