Brook Compton Motor reverse

Hi Been scratching my head about this

A friend wants to fit a reverse to switch to super 7 lathe with a Brook Compton KP7575 motor.

Ive added a few pictures as they’ll probably explain better than I can put in words , only found on this site same motor but that was for reverting back to fwd only . As the plate states will run in reverse swapping blue and yellow and it does run backwards.

BUT wants to feed L & N from Wall plug to reverse switch( or run through it ) then to the motor rather than loop blue and yellow wires back to the switch and try limit the number of unnecessary wires to motor .

Any help most appreciated if it can be done .

Using the diagram shown by Brook then all 4 wires , 2 start and 2 run must be taken to the reversing switch ! using the links marked up on the photo and as shown the motor IS NOT reversable ! The diagram for the reversing switch will only work if one end of the run winding is wired round the switch to neutral. As shown it is for 3phase ! Noel

Having re read the question again YOU MUST run all 4 wires back to the switch ! you should NOT use the reverser as a stop start switch and a No VOLT release should be between the plug and the reverser. I must take it you do not understand motor wiring and that you should seek the help of a competent person !.

Thanks there’s already a No Volt release fitted before where the reverse will go so looks like 4 wires back then , which was the question . Was just wondering if there was an easier way or less wires ..

An old thread here when you only need a permanent reversal

The motor wires need to be swapped over, not the supply, so it needs to be wired up to do that

Thanks , yes I know already done as the plate says swapped yellow and blue and it runs in reverse, just wondered if there was a configuration of wires where we don’t have to run 2 wires to switch and back again meaning another 4 wires .
