Who can transport a grinder M62 corridor?

I am looking for transport to move a J&S 540 grinder with extract and cooling systems. Does anyone know a company or man with a bigger van and small Hiab who can do this? I would probably stick my oar in to make sure the machine was fully strapped down to my satisfaction.

There is a man near Halifax who might be able to help. I forget his full company name, something like 1 Tonne. He moved a Harrison M250 lathe for me with comparative ease. His name is Matt Smith, on 07957333097

Hi Earny49, yes I spoke to him, but his lift will not quite do for the grinder. Its about 100Kg short. Must admit that he gave a very quick idea of price for just an 18 mile distance of £400 which seemed a little steep. Maybe I need to try to find a trailer.

I don't know what classes of vehicle you can drive on your license, but when I shifted my 540 you could drive a vehicle up to 7.5 ton. I hired a van with a tail lift to move the machine and its accoutrements which was easy enough with a pallet truck and the machine strapped to a pallet. I had 'grandfather rights' when the license classifications changed but you loose these when you turn 70 and have to re-new your license unless you provide medical and optical certificates which are only available at a price and only last three years, so I can't move the machine again.

Can’t help with someone to move it, but they are not nice to shift if sat on the floor. Hauled mine with a flatbed trailer, but it was a pain.

Horrible awkward thing to move about, and surprisingly heavy, rollers are not really an option, you need to crane them ideally. Also make sure you empty the hydraulic tank before transporting, otherwise you will end up with oil everywhere you don't want it to be.

If you do sling it, only use the prescribed lifting points, mine has eyes screwed into the top, don’t be tempted to put straps around the bed, as it’s just sat on the ways.

The height of the lifting points makes it awkward to use something like an engine crane. Mine was craned onto the trailer and i used a block and tackle at my end to get it off.

I have not used him, but there have been a number of positive posts on this forum about Steve Cox of Landylift. He is based in West Yorkshire and advertises on the Homeworkshop website. See link below.

I've never used them, so no idea of cost, but Garside would be one firm to check out in Halifax
They also do machinery bed regrinds etc. and seem to have plenty of satisfield Myford bed regrind customers.

Personally I used Steve Cox of Landylift, but obviously that would depend upon the weight of your machine.
