Anyone playing with these new 'chatbots'?

They should by now have read every Model Engineering forum in every language so it would be interesting to see the 'definitive' answer to some of the questions we get on here.

Bazyle I am particularly excited about ChatGPT's ability to deliver with lightening speed a set of G-code commands for a verbally described machining procedure. Presumably commands in other CNC programming languages will be delivered too. This is going to make life very interesting. Unfortunately Chat GPT does not handle image data so limited in 3-D Image to CAD….at the moment

I had a conversation with Virgin media recently, the thing/person I talked to had the most weird accent I have ever heard, sort of a posh Lloyd Grossman if that is possible, not sure if it was a human on the other end? Really freaky.

I wonder if one will be able to transform verbal sounds into bespoke accents through the pc. I always enjoyed William Hague slipping accidentally back and forth between posh Chelsea and broad Yorkshire

Jim Al-Khalili did on Twitter a while ago
"I just asked ChatGPT to write me a poem on the two-slit experiment in quantum mechanics in the style of Robert Burns. My work on this earth is done."

Two slits in wall, a mystery to be,
The quantum world, a strange entity.
A particle sent, with wave-like grace,
Its path, a riddle, with nary a trace.

But lo! What magic, doth this impart,
With both slits open, it plays its part,
A diffraction pattern, doth it bring,
A sight to see, with marv'lous fling.

And when just one, the path doth show,
The particle a path, doth surely know,
But yet, the mystery, still doth hold,
For quantum states, are never told.

Oh Burns, I think, you'd surely see,
The beauty of this physics, full of glee,
The two-slit experiment, a wondrous thing,
A test of our beliefs, and what we bring.

So let us ponder, and let us strive,
To understand, what it doth imply,
For in this experiment, truth doth lay
About the world, in a wondrous way.

It's a major problem for the human internet community

AI stuff can do gaming so online games are goosed

AI stuff can do chat forums so who is actually real on Twitter etc?

                  Handy for solving problems though

The ChatGPT poem is about equal in merit to one of William McGonagall's.

That's what's so scary! Most people can't write poetry as well as McGonagall, and he must have been an engineer as well:

I must now conclude my lay
By telling the world fearlessly without the least dismay,
That your central girders would not have given way,
At least many sensible men do say,
Had they been supported on each side with buttresses,
At least many sensible men confesses,
For the stronger we our houses do build,
The less chance we have of being killed.
