Petter av 1 diesel engine dated around 1940s.

I am in the process of restoring the above and have a problem assembling the injector pump, can anyone help me with an exploded drawing of the pump?

              Donald,

I know the square root of diddly squat about Petter engines but have a look at page 26 of the manual here:

              Petter manual

It purports to cover AV series engines. The picture show an exploded view of the injector.

If you have taken the injector pump apart, EVERYTHING has to be spotless ly clean. You are talking lapped fit for the plunger and barrel.

The position of the "gear" quadrant bthat fits around the barrel controls the fuel delivery, and should really be set by a specialist.

Gettingb it wrong can occupy a lot of time and risk damage to the engine before the correct setting is reached.

SAlso shimmkjing between the cam follower and the barrel is important.

                Take great care!

                  Donald,

Sorry, I got the page reference wrong. It should read page 62, figure 3.10

Searching images for jerk injection pumps is likely to show at least a similar pump.

Re Howards comment on cleanliness – it is recommended to rebuild while immersed in clean fuel, to minimise any risk of introducing ‘scratchy’ particles during this process.

I expect fuel delivery is varied by shimming, to alter the pump stroke? Or was that timing? It’s ten years, or more since I took a Bryce pump apart. The usual problem, with these pumps, is the non-return valve on the delivery outlet to the pump.
