Another gas engine question, sorry!

My Centaur engine (horizontal) is designed to have a drip lubricator towards the open end of the cylinder.
This is all fine for piston/cylinder lubrication but how is the oil supposed to get to the little end?
Little end of the connecting rod has an oil hole in it so I was thinking of a tube pressed into the piston skirt for directing oil to the area required?
Is this the way it’s done, or just give it a squirt before each run?

Usually there is a hole in the side of the piston above the little end, so that oil can drip through from the cylinder.

Yes Most of the horizontal open crank engines I have made have a hole in the top edge of the piston above the pin. Still worth putting a drop into the small end hole before you start the engine.

Thanks for replies, I thought about the tube idea as without it would any incoming oil not just run round the interior of the piston?
