Presumably one for the IT lady?

I have, long since, changed my mail provider. The details have been amended in my profile but, when I login, the old email continues to appear. Not of earth-shattering importance but it would be nice to have it properly updated … any clues, please?

Mystic Meg has peered into her crystal ball… she sees you leaning over your computer guiding the mouse up to 'settings'… you click on it then choose 'my account' … too late it's all gone black….

            Neil, I don't think it's a my account thing.

When you login the e-mails you have used are remembered, for example when I log in I get two e-mail addresses pop up as soon as I type J. One is my JasonB account, the other my Sock puppet that I use when I want to login as a mere mortal rather than a Mod. I expect this is what Bill is seeing

As I said it is not changing teh e-mail details that is the issue

Try clearing your browser cache, it may help.

I getting confused, it may a question of semantics, but the only place in my account that my email address appears is on the 'My Account' page. I assumed that OP had his email address on his profile and that he changed it there, (It appears he does not have a profile).

Reading closely, the states that he has changed his email provider and changed his profile, not account details. It comes down to is OP logging in on his old email address or new one.

                    Regards

                    Luigi

                      Luigi

If someone logs in as they type their e-mail address it will automatically promp the remembered e-mails so in the OP's case it is prompting his old e-mail address and the new one that he has changed it two.

I would add a screen shot but doing that makes the drop down box with the adresses disapear.

Photo will have to do, infact it prompts 3 e-mail addresses as I once used one with a , rather than a .

                      Probably a cookie thing.

                        Jason,

I don't get that pop up, as you say maybe a cookie or settings thing.

I am suffering exactly the same problem as Jason. I was forced to change my provider after the demise of Demon email, and advised the IT lady accordingly. It now seems that the details have been changed as I get communications like the MEW advisory on Monday. However I am unable to log on to this forum to post without going through the rigmarole of typing in new address and then requesting new password.

Mystic Meg – if it be she – mentioned that I would have difficulty like this, when she responded to my original email.

Perhaps the matter could be taken a little more seriously by those who know about these things.

                          Mike.

Isn't that coming from your browser? Most browsers remember your login details for all sites that require login (if you have them setup that way) and will produce them as soon as you start to type. If you have multiple logins at a site the browser produces a selection list

Gosh, chaps and chappesses – a sudden surfeit of replies and suggestions but, unfortunately, nowt changes!!crying

Jason has the details correct – Log in, enter first letter of user name and up pops OLD email address. If I accept that, the log in is refused. If I modify the email to the new one, it all works. I have this naive belief that any system that works on nothing but noughts and ones MUST be simple to amend wink Exits left, followed by a bear

I don't think that is to do with the website, it's more of a browser issue. The browser can locally store the login ID and password used for a particular website. Changing the email on the website will not affect the value the browser has stored.

As Jason and Andrew have said this is not a website probelem:

                                  login.jpg

The e-mail address is probably being remembered by your browser. If you clear the browser (Edge, Internet Explorer, Firefox) cache it should remove the problem. The function to clear the cache will be buried in the browser settings somewher.

                                  Cheers John

Clearing the Cache won't do it.

You need to go to your saved logins and remove the old one, restart the browser, then log in again with the new details checking the 'remember me' box.

Or use Firefox which detects when you use a different log in details and asks if you want it to change the remembered settings

I stand corrected. I tried clearing cache, cookies, remembered paswords – in fact everything I could find in Firefox and the e-mail address keeps coming back. I will investigate further!

I think it may be more to do with the "Remember me" box.

I only entered that e-0mail with the comma once by mistake but it comes up when I login on more than one browser.

Found out how to do it in Firefox:-

                                            1. Type first letter and the dropdown box with e-mail address appears
                                            2. Mouseover (hover) over the box and the e-mail address is higlighted
                                            3. Press shift & delete keys

Worked for me, not sure about other browsers though, probably similar.

                                                Whoopee!!

While I'm sure J'man's suggestion is good, unfortunately I didn't understand line 1blush That's the problem with my being a well-established dunderhead! However, he is right … it was the Butler Browser wot did it! I trawled through the various Firefox menus and one of them popped up with the ME login email (old one) and I deleted it. Shut down machine, restarted and next Forum attempt – no problems = so, whoopee again!
