          Hi Jason

I have built one of those but did my own castings, it's the one I told you about that i couldn't get to run on a buzz box.

Thanks for that David, I didn't realise you had cast that one but should have guessed. I'm thinking about trying one of the little coils and controllers that the guy who sells the Minimag does as they are quite small they should fit in teh scale box along with a battery and can use the points as on the drawings and run it on Colemans.

              Hi David,

Careful scrutiny reveals the reason the tremblers didnt work is because you puit the box at the wrong end

Seriously, that's anice engine. What did you use for the castings, it doesn't look like iron.

Hey Neil , so thats where I went wrong! Ha!

I have a reprint of the sales catalogue for the Domestic engines so I did know the box was at the other end but I didn't want to hide all the interesting valve gear. Castings are aluminium, cast iron liner, bronze bushes in all shafts. Aluminium flywheels with steel rims.

Hi Jason, I like the way you improvised, made a much safer and more positive way of holding without too much extra work.

Nice looking job, by the way.

                      Regards Nick.

Nick this shows the suggested setup, not much grip on the rough cast surface and to get an idea of the chuck dia needed the head is 4.5" dia.

It's been a while since I posted about this engine here. Well its all done, rather than post the pics and video again they are now on Model Engine Maker Forum, the rest of the build can be seen by following the previous links to HMEM.
