Does anyone one know if there is an archive of old copies of this British magazine held anywhere.

‘Engineering’ has a website and I have contacted them by email but have recieved no response.

My interest is very specific – the issue required is Feb 1884 – a long shot I know but worth trying

      Hopefully – Ramon

The University Library in Cambridge has a couple of possibilities, including the last entry here. You can search the catalogue yourself at http://www.lib.cam.ac.uk.

If you find that they have got what you want, you may be able to get a photocopy through an inter-library loan through an academic institution near you. If you find what you want but draw a blank getting hold of it, then send me a private email with more detail of what you want and (very importantly) why, and I will try to help further (I am a member of the University).

Have you asked the library service at your local one?

              Hi Ramon,

The British Library should have a copy at their archive in Boston (Lincs).  You should be able to obtain a copy via your local library.  I have obtained obscure articles from old and even more obscure journals in this way.

                Thanks for the response.

I’ve had a two sessions on there Christopher but there are so many variables as to where to search I’m a bit lost. and no, I hadn’t thought of the library so that will now be first on the list. Once again it’s the most obvious that is least thought of.
It’s dreadful to confess but I can’t remember the last time I visited my local library

                Regards – Ramon

The Science Museum Library, South Kensington, London, also hold bound copies of “Engineering” and “The Engineer”.

A mate of mine here in Melbourne has about ten years worth from 1850 to 1860. Not much help to you though.
