        Evening All.

A friend uses Solid Works CAD for private use but the version he has is old and is not compatible with his new PC.

Could anyone recommend a CAD package, preferably free to use that looks like Solid Works?

        Many thanks,

        Nick

This subject has been covered many, many times on here recently, try searching for cad in the search boxes, you should get all the answers you need there.

Thank you Baz, I did try that before posting without much success.

I have just had a quick Google and there is lots of information there about Solid Works alternatives so I won't need to bother the forums any more.

what about the software John refers to in his post " So what design software will you use in 2022? "

" Ian – Thank you for the lead on Solid Edge. I downloaded it this morning and have spent the day re-orientating myself from years with Solidworks.

If this deal (free) is real. Then this must be the dogs wallongas of free 3Dcad.. Takes a bit of effort finding things at first, but very inclusive as you begin to get the hang of it. – Shame they do not offer the Cam package also. "

I think this post from another ME Forum thread (by Rod Ashton) answers your Solidworks question Nick.
