      Good morning all

Would someone be able to help me with the remote wiring for a VFD ?

The inverter is an IMO SD1 Series

I want to add a remote stop / start and variable speed control.

I have searched through the previous posts but nothing jumps out at me.

If anyone can help with a wiring diagram.

      Thank you

      Brian

              Hi Brian,

If you do not have the manual it’s available from eg inverterdrive.com

I would use the 3 wire control method this is detailed on pg 42:

2:3-wire control 1; Sin is the enabling terminal on this mode, and the run- ning command is caused by FWD and the direction is controlled by REV. Sin is natural closed.

you’ll need a green push button normally open I.e you push it to make the circuit, and a red normally closed push button I.e. the circuit breaks when you push it. You can ignore the rev switch if you don’t need it. You will need to program the input terminals say 1 and 2 to tell them what to do see pg 40.

FWD is you green switch, SIN n is your red switch .

wire as per the diagram directly below the passage I quoted above. COM provides the signal voltage to the two switches. You will need to put the VFD in remote mode that’s covered in the manual. Once we have that sorted I’ll go though speed control.

              Tony

PS Dont know where you bought it but the above seller is very helpful on the phone. I’m on pad right now but may be able to give you fuller answer If you need it.

                Hello Tony,

Thank you for taking the time to explain, I am embarrassed to admit I really don't understand this at all.

                Thanks anyway.

                Brian

Hi Brian, If you have NO idea it might be a good idea to speak to a friend who may understand – before you spoil or break your VFD. Good Luck Noel.

Agree that a knowledgable friend is the best solution, but VFD expertise isn't that common. As a possible altermative for the OP, here's a link to a guide for a VFD that I happen to own and which i used to fit  remote controls. It's obviously very different in detail to the IMO, but the OP might just be able to transpose the principals to fit a suitable switch arrangement to his device.

                    Hope that is some help.Here

The info is on the last few pages of the link.

I suggest that you consider a ready-built unit such as this one:

Worth giving them a ring to discuss your requirements.

I think you require more than a wiring diagram as the inputs that you need to use are configured using the parameter table to define their function. The trouble with the manual is that it is written for people familiar with the techniques used. It is very difficult for a novice to understand and extract the relevant information. The drive you have specified is a very competent and flexible piece of equipment, unfortunately the flexibility goes with lots of configurable parameters which is very daunting to understand. Ideally you need a diagram and parameter list from someone who has installed this drive with the setup you require.

I have spoken to the company who sold me the inverter who have been really helpful,
