I have a Super 7 lathe and a very long time ago the end-plate was repaired using a brash plate. Its not a bad repair actually bit it gives ever so slight movement when machining.

Although there are a number of endplates online i can't find one for a super 7 (powerfeed model)

Does anyone know where you can get these items? Seem like an item that's easily damaged so you'd think there was plenty of people making replacements!

PS if anyone is interested in the lathe im selling it shortly along with a variety of tools, chucks etc

Brash? It's a yellow metal used by Sean Connery, I think.

What sort of damage are you meaning. Mine had side bore wear. But not sure what your damage is.

Thanks for that DiogenesII but unfortunately that doesn't fit my machine, That's the connoisseur model, mines an SK. I've been trying Myford for over a year but as luck would have it they have just got a handful in that fits mine and its coming today. Also found Metric cross slide assembly Myford super 7 dial handle plate screw and nut | eBay and have since found this will fit.

And correct, Sean Connery did fix the machine before me and his typing skills and drink problem were nearly as bad as mine!

Steviegtr it cracked the casing, scrap but i was clutching at straws trying to fix.

Thanks Michael, I just ordered a complete spare cross slide assembly for mine. Just 4 screws and then I can change out from the 2mm pitch metric assembly, to the home made 0.5mm pitch assembly now. The one I made, uses the imperial 100 thou dial, so each division matches 0.01mm diameter on a metric micrometer. Lots more winding of the handle of course, but makes it so much easier if you are making a lot of bits that you need to be as close as possible.

Marvelous! You are welcome! £47 for the end plate, £125 for the full assembly! if i'd known the full assy was a straight fit before i ordered the plate, common sense would have prevailed.

What a simple joy it is to maintain these machines after working on European cars/vans/pushchairs…….

PS I also spoke to Frans at Myfordsolutions in Netherlands, that guy looks switched on and also holds stock of some hard to get items and its not as expensive as you'd think to get them here

There is another thread on this forum containing the phrase (unknown to the OED) but it left me none the wiser.

I'm glad you were able to solve your problem; it's good to know spares are still available.

Impossible to answer without joking, but it's a typo for 'brass plate'

Sean Connery's famous Scottish lisp is a source of humour throughout the English speaking world. Examples:
- What time does Sean Connery go to Wimbledon? About tennish.
- What did Sean Connery say when a book fell on his head? "I have only my shelf to blame."
Only funny because the confusions are ridiculous. Sean Connery was a star.

Not the most obvious typo for brass! I speculated that brash plate was a variation on fish plate.

My Assembly arrived today. Sadly it was missing the spring washer or diaphragm washer for the tension on the dial. Anyway, what I really noticed was the pain to get to the 4BA screws holding the nut to the carriage. I found some 4BA set screws 5/8 long with a 1/16 hex in them. Made some nut heads from 1/4 hex brass and glued with 620 loctite. These are much easier for my fingers to access than the long series screw driver. I have a long series 1/16 allen key and is easy to install and a 1/4 spanner to just nip up. This is for using my fine thread assembly that is 1mm/ rev on diameter.

I have always assembled the nut to the carriage first, then add the rest
