      20220104_120904.jpgHi everyone,

I have a challenge for you. One of our society members has acquired a piece of equipment that none of us can identify as to what it is or what it is used for.

It has two fine vernier scales, the silver piece on the right is spring loaded so it pivots outwards and springs back into place, to we think trap some object between the two points. There is what appears to be a attachment point on the back, maybe to fix it to a stand or other piece of equipment.

All this of course is pure conjecture as we have no idea whatsoever.

Your input would be very much appreciated.

      Thank you.

Don't know what it's called but looks like a fitment for a microscope platform to position glass slides.

            Yes – it's called a 'stage'..

Correct. I've always known it to be a 'Mechanical Stage' but Olympus who sell all sorts of microscopical goodies call it an 'X-Y Translation Mechanical Stage'.

Now that makes total sense to me. I can picture it being used now.

Thank you ever so much guys, I will pass the info on.

                Regards
