My clutch has recently started to drag when in the dis-engaged position.
Its the expanding drum brake type.
I've tried adjustments and relocating the actuating arm, this did not have the desired effect.
On inspection I've noted the following potential issues:
The plate where the brake (clutch) shoes locate has play at the actuating cam and at its bore where it fits to the shaft, the two grub screws therefore cuase it to be off set from the true center. the actuting cam has both lateral and axial play over and above what would be requred for running clearance.
Also I'm not sure what the minimum friction material thickness should be.
I've also seen that the lever tilts when rotated by the pushrod.
Which of these issues whould contribute most to the dragging?
If I cure the dragging by adjustment there is little driving force available at the chuck!
Is it a case of its too far gone to remedy ?
Regards
Dave
