Yep, I've used them for a fair while, probably 9 or 10 years. I also use carbide for roughing and hard steels. The HSS tips from A R Warner are excellent, they are very easy to sharpen using a flat diamond thingy, take the tip out of the holder first though.
They are certainly not particularly cheap, but they seem to last forever, take only 1 or 2 minutes to give a "lick" on the diamond doofa. In my opinion they are better than pratting around with lumps of HSS and an off hand grinder, which I still have to do with some lesser used tools….
Give them a go!!
