Hi Brian, I bought ne of the latest models from Myford at Beston just before they closed, it is much better then the earlier ones but not perfect. It does hold the oil in the reservoir pretty well whereas the others leaked profusely. As for sealing with the nipples, well better but by no means perfect, there are a few posts on here with solutions to this but myself I just use the old dodge of putting a thin cotton cloth over the nipple and this prevents 95% of the leak.

Not tried any of the clones on offer so will be interesting to see what the team think

          Regards John

              Brian,

4 or 5 years ago there was an article spread over 2 issues of MEW on fitting a permanent lubrication system to a Myford lathe. Arc Euro Trade sell all the parts for this upgrade. Sorry I cant remember which issues but have a search on Neil`s new index (earlier post today).

It took about a day to fit to my Myford & was well worth (a) the cost about £125, & (b) the time in doing plues the bonus was I could get rid of that b++++y useless oil gun. I`ve used the system for about 3 years (not everyday) 7 the reservoir is still on its first fill. Very highly recommended, at least by me

              Alan

Just had a look & you want Issues 161 & 163 by Tony Jeffree called One shot lubrication system for a Myford

The oil can that a number of people recommend is the Reilang, I think Reeves may stock them, these cans seem to do away with oil leaks.

The web site selling the one shot system is listed for the ML 7, would it also work for a Super 7?

                      Jerry,

I have an ML7 not a Super 7 and I don`t see how the system couldn`t be made to fit a Super 7 or with a bit of fiddling about any other lathe or machine tool. Give it a go, it works !

                        Thanks all.

Not sure about a one shot system at the moment, looked at the myford oilers whilst at the show this weekend,

do seem very expensive but I guess if they work then that's what I need.

After you have had a look at one of these oiling systems, it probably would not be too difficult to knock one up.

The Myford oil gun is excellent. The only problem I have with mine is that it occasionally runs out of oil.

I have wondered about installing a one shot oil system. It would be very convenient but I feel money and time is best spent elsewhere.
