I also found that the blade works well as a slitting saw. I used it mounted in my X3 mill to cut the slit when I was making your design of table for my bandsaw.

Some years ago I purchased an APTC115 bandsaw, which, because of space limitations remained in its packing case until recently, when I finally assembled it. The packing included the original receipt – dated 27/01/1997. Yes, that's right, its been languishing in its case for 17 years!

It works fine, but because it didn't come with the vertical table I need to make one. Is it possible to see your design?

Hi Mike,
The table works very well and is much more convenient than the original table. The only modification I made was to add a magnetic catch to hold it in the position for using the bandsaw normally. I went a little OTT machining the radius on the edge of the plate.

Note the tailstock supported the end of the plate while machining but was removed to take the picture.

Here is another setup using a 1"-2"-3" block to machine the V groove in a jig for sharpening tangential tool bits.

Thanks Les for the pic, I had not considered using the blocks for lathework holding. I must put some on my Christmas list.

I have had one of these saws for some time and would recommend using full protective gear when using because the shrapnel gets everywhere. Full face mask and gloves at least.

I think I have become an ALDI/LIDL addict. My reliable and ancient VAX lost a wheel, not a disaster but enough of an excuse so a few weeks ago, I bought a wet/dry vacuum cleaner from LIDL. This has all the fittings for the shop/car. I like the additional power socket for power tools and when used, flick the switch over and the vacuum responds to the power tool use. I used it on Wednesday on my thickness planer and when finished, the drum was full to overflow, enough for a half fill large plastic bag. From now on I think it will be used more in the workshop than the home.

Having acquired so much shavings/sawdust which has a limited recycling value, I saw that ALDI were selling one of those waste paper log makers and yesterday, I bought one. I thought that perhaps a mixture of wood shavings and shredded paper would make useful fuel for a wood burner. The next job will be to get a woodburner for the shed.

With winter coming on, I wonder if ALDI or LIDL will put a workshop stove on their specials.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I now own one which will be used for chopping wood up for the wood burning stove and other jobs. I also bought some spare blades and noticed that they say wood , plastic and soft metals. I would take this to mean non ferrous. The blade look the same. Any thoughts?
