      Hi , I am looking for around 30 stainless steel plain bushes for location points on a jig I am re-building. Size needed are: o/d. 5/8" (.625" )  i/d. 3/8" (.375" ) and length 5/8" (.625" )

I have done the usual searches on Google, but at the moment can not locate any.

Can anyone out there help me?

      Mike.

          Hello Mike,

I did a quick Google search, these people make them and don't have a minimum order, could be what you are looking for. Otherwise I suspect it would be quicker to make them yourself

That looks a useful link. Initial impressions of the website put me off but they do offer a vast range of parts which all seem to be based on using tube as the basic material.

I am not sure whether to would be the answer to the OPs question but from the few details he gave I suspect they will need to be specially made. 'Bushes in Jigs' covers a wide area and whoever supplied them would need tolerances and whether they are flanged or have other features.

Hi. The bush sizes are not critical except the bore. There are merely location bushes for a split fibreglass mould and will be fibreglassed in to the mould at certain points, after being welded to small flat stainless plates for anchorage in the fibreglass..

There is some tube on fleabay that may do the trick search for "stainless steel tube 5/8"

5/8" od 10swg wall which should take it a tad under -0.006 on 3/8" on the id.

You will need to address the inner diameter after it is welded as there is likely to be some distortion may be silver soldering will reduce the amount of distortion and not sure if 0.006" is going to be enough to recover the ID.

Sparky mike – you might check Google for Misumi USA (major tooling and automation supplier) and United Drill Bushing (the main folks in the bushing business in USA) . If they don't have bushings to suit I would be surprised.

                  Good luck JD

I'd tend to turn them down from a larger diameter to include the flange in the bush, and eliminate the weld, and any problems that go with welding stainless. Ian S C

                      Mike,

I'm not sure if they do Stainless versions [it's a long time since I bought from them] but it might be worth you looking at bigHead Fasteners: They do a very wide range of "things" attached to perforated metal plates … might save you a lot of work.
