These two chucks appear identical and both in similarly good condition. I wonder if anyone knows what the difference in spec is and if one is better than the other and why? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, Adam
Burnerd is at the top of the pile for quality, especially in production industry. Both will be as good on the quality front. For modelling where most things are made to fit each other by non skilled persons – i.e you and me and many others from all aspects of life. So in your judgement take the one that looks most appealing to you and will fit a suitable back plate for your machine
Chris, thanks for the practical advice. My enquiry is moreto do with my curiosity as to quality of manufacture and change in model number between old and newer….
I think the difference in the chucks may relate to the maximum speed when in use, alternatives were steel and of course the Iron bodies; I think I still have the pamphlet that came with my chuck back in the seventies which may explain the differences, but I still think it relates to RPM when in use.
Hi Norman and Bob, I contacted Burnerd last week not really expecting a reply but this morning received an email from their David Stanley (Technical Sales) who states the following :"The chucks are Identical the 1548-16130 is a Pratt Burnerd number used for the Burnerd designed 34M chuck"! . So there we are. It might have helped members if I had correctly typed the 34M (rather than 30M) at the head of this thread but then again probably not! Adam
