Am trying to disassemble my 8" Tom Senior Rotary Table as I believe the 'bronze' gear has worn out and it keeps skipping when I'm rotating the handle. Have taken the drive shaft/handle assembly out, removed the locking clamp and the 4 bolts to the bottom. Can get two parts to rotate against each other underneath but can't get the table to separate from the body. Can anyone out there advise if I'm missing something. A slim chance probably as well but any idea where I might get a replacement gear assuming I can get it apart?

Graham,

I don't know the table but are you sure you aren't missing the obvious with an eccentric adjustment to affect the meshing of the worm and wheel? It sounds rather like that as a likely cause to me.

Hi Brian. After struggling all morning I left it and had Tea and something to eat and thought about it. The table locking lever had below it a 3/16" dia brass bar about 2" long that actually did the locking and once removed the parts separated. The gear isn't bronze either, looked that way to me because of all the grease in there, it's steel or iron. Cleaned everything down and looked at it again. You're right there are two pins one either side of the shaft which pivots on the front mounting/yolk, careful adjustment and re-oiling and it's working without skipping. Don't know why it went out of adjustment, haven't used it for a while and it was OK then. Thanks for your reply, you're right sometimes the straight forward is missed.
