I have been facinated by the adverts for Evolution mitre saws and the ease with which metal can be cut but since I already have two mitre saws for wood and an abrasive saw for metal, I have little room and could not justify buying another saw (questions would be asked in the house). Can anyone tell me if it ok to fit an Evolution blade to a standard mitre saw. I see in the Machine Mart catalogue they state that the blades are only for fitting to the Rage saw. I have a feeling that the speed of the woodwork saw may be a bit too high but if this can be overcome, is there any other reason not to use these blades.

Yes. The only reason you need, is that the info you are relying on so far comes from Machine Mart.

There seems to be a Guerilla marketing push for Machine Mart on this forum ATM !

Rage saws actually work like they say on the tin, I didn't believe it myself until I actually witnessed one cutting ally bar stock with my own eyes.

But I wouldn't buy one from Machine Mart !

The rage saws only run at 1300 rpm, they are geared motors.

I do the opposite, I run normal tipped saw blades on the rage to cut alloy, believe it or not they cut better than the evolution alloy ones. The general purpose steel blade will cut alloy with a bit of lube but i can get a faster cleaner cut with a triple chip wood blade.

You can buy negative rake Carbide tipped blades specially designed for Aluminium, II have a 304mm 30mm bore Makita sliding Mitre saw It works fine with an aluminium blade. If you do a lot of cutting get a good one Mine is from AKE **LINK** I also use their timber blades. I have also used the same Aluminium blade in my saw bench that has the same arbour size..

Made short work slicing through some 2×4 hollow steel tube.

                      No kick-back or sparkes.

The rage saw cuts fine ,although they say 6mm cut is the max I've cut 2" box section steel without a problem.

One word of advice though, remove the laser lens cover as when you cut the metal the sparks hit it and it becomes opaque
