Getting the nuts on the chuck is a pain, getting them on for a face plate is double pain. Have made what can be described as a minature shovel to assist in the task. Cut a 14mm slot in some steel, solder in a 3mm rod. Picture in my album, (cannot fathom out how to put here, but then I am not puter literate). Put a little grease on the pan and it can be turned enough to start the nut on the threads. Hope it helps

Try using flange nuts. the use of theses solved the problem of fitting chuck nuts on my Hobbymat lathe. You will find they can be offered up in the jaw of an ordinary open ended spanner and with a little practice you will be able to do the job very quickly .

I changed to flanged nuts on my 250 V-F a while back much easier to fasten.
