I am a few hours into the start of a new model but I keep thinking that I ought to be trying something a little more ambitious so while I moon about getting inspiration for something grander I like to at least do something. I have been meaning to knock up a milling machine vice stop for a while now and have spent a couple of days making this:

It goes on the vice like this and is secured by 2no. 6mm capheads on the RH side of the fixture:

I scavenged all the flat ally from a redundant drilling jig (skip job) hence a lot of equally redundant tapped holes you might be able to see.

Finished it and locked up the shed a little while ago leaving the inside looking like an aluminium bomb explosion. Guess what I'm doing tomorrow?

……….no need to drill the vice with this one.

North American readers should not get the wrong idea.

            Elegant Rik.
            Nice

Although some purists might call for plugging the extra holes..though for me ..you never know when they might be useful

              Hi Nick & Guys
The stop I use is clamped on the milling table . so you can move it back for larger jobs. also where you have a screw adjustment mine slid with a M6 locking screw but on the it it had a locking collar .so when you put the job against the stop. remove the sliding stop and the you can run the program to machine say a radius on the end.
Remove job. Slide the stop back onto the collar stop Load job machine etc .
This way you can also use it as a back stop the other side of the vice . also without a vice using a fence and clamps
              Nobby
