no, I have plenty of other types of vices, this one is for the Mill.

Over the last week or so I have discovered the shortcomings of my vice on the Mill. It is a

decent enough piece of kit but just not repeatablyaccurate enough for my needs.

I was looking at the various "toolmakers" type vices as a 75 or even 50 mm vice jaw width

        would work for me.

What would you guys reccommend I look at getting?

That looks quite interesting Bob, looks easy enough to bolt down well too. The one I had been looking at was at Arc Eurotrade and it was**LINK**

I had wondered about fastening it down though.

You could Google for the drawing's and make your own, I did and it's work's great and it's a good learning curve.

There were some suggestions which may be of help in the thread "Machine vice recommendations" recently

I have a few of the ones from ARC.

You can bolt them down with toe clamps into the box section either end or clamps with a pin in the end if you want to side mount. Pretty much a standard toolmakers way of fastening.

Good thing with the ARC ones is the way the moveable jaw clamps is that all the forces are both down and forward so you don't get any lift to the work piece.

I'm told you can grip two pound coins very securely but I wouldn't know having not got a two pound coin……….

So that's why you haven't got your 2 quid – Ketan is using it to test vices.

Money is the source of all vices.
