For anyone who saw the small, simple but cheap footswitches from CPC but discounted them because they are latching, a conversion is simple.

I bought a second one and the procedure is this:

Remove e-clip from hinge pin (careful it doesn't fly away) and remove pin and separate clamshell halves.

Remove screw holding switch in place.

Use pointed implement to lever out the detent wire from the switch (appears brassy/coppery in colour, probably beryllium copper wire).

Refix switch, reassemble case and hinge pin and refix e-clip (you didn't lose it did you?)

I now have one of each.

Check the recent post by Neil about footswitches and there is a link .

The latching switch would be useful for a small electric die grinder or engraver or maybe a very small lathe etc and it is also good that it can be modified to be a momentary switch .
I fitted a foot switch (momentary) to my pedestal drill and what a revelation it has been , I can highly recommend this conversion .

Have tools- we will modify , its the ME way !

Just a caution, I would not use this to switch 240V for power tool – but instead use it to operate a relay at, say, 12V.
